City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy

The Gymanstics Academy is located within Benfield Centre for Sporting Excellence. Benfield Centre for Sporting Excellence located adjacent the Benfield School.

The facility was planned to be large enough and flexible enough to allow gymnasts working in groups at various levels and disciplines as part of the framework of a planned development program.

The facilities allow for the high-quality delivery of the gymnastics component that is part of the National Physical Education programme in collaboration in conjunction with Benfield School and City Primary Schools and support the extracurricular and curricular gymnastics activities.

The Academy includes the following areas:

• Gymnastics Hall – 2,336 sq. meters. The facility is capable of being divided into two parts. One for performance enhancement and one for recreational gymnastics.
• Separate changing facilities are available for the use of performance and recreation facilities designed to allow 112 gymnasts at once
• Gymnastics Office and Coaches’ Room for Gymnastics Manager, Director Coaching and for coaches
• Seating area for Spectators with seating for 300 people.
• A social/refreshment area with a view the Recreational Gymnastics Hall
• Club Room – facilities accessible on a shared basis with Sports Centre for seminars, lectures for lectures, seminars, workshops and other gatherings
• Space available for coaches who are visiting and judge.

• NFDS Nursery Programme
• Northumberland Badminton Centre
• Benfield Community Basketball Club
• Taekwondo
• The Shelley Dobson School of Dance
• Team Northumbria NSL Netball Superleague
• Outdoor Astro Turf

Donations

There are many children within the North East who have neither enough resources or support to learn about Gymnastics and reap the benefits that this sport has the potential to provide to their lives.

At CNGA we aim to continue to connect with the local community and provide an environment that is inclusive and provides safe, enjoyable, and fulfilling experiences for every child, regardless of their family background age, gender, or abilities. It is possible that the next Olympic Champion could be living in our local community today!
